A list of books geeks tend to assume you've read.

Bold = I have read

Italics = Tried to read but failed

Underline = Intend to read someday

Books we tend to assume that you've read

Twice, because I couldn't believe how awful it was the first time round. It was just as awful the second time.
2. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, C.S. Lewis
3. A Wrinkle in Time, L'engle
Never heard of this one.
4. Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll
5. Starship Troopers, Heinlein
6. Dune, Herbert
7. I, Robot, Asimov
8. Dark Tower: The Gunslinger, King
9. Sandman, Gaiman
10. Farenheit 451, Bradbury
11. Snowcrash, Stephenson
12. Lord Foul's Bane, Donaldson

25. Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Weis and Hickman
26. Brave New World, Huxley

Godsdammit! Why don't I find out about these things until they're over/nearly over?

Anyway, thanks to [info]rozk reminding me, I officially proclaim myself a transdyke.

Bet that came as a shock to you lot.

I took this for Flickr Monthly Scavenger Hunt to go under Doctor? Doctor? Doctor!. The background is Pyramids pyrotechnics by Edward Miller, the June illustration from the 2005 Discworld calendar. I didn't take too much time over it as it was meant to be just a demo, and had trouble with the lighting (just the room light) but I rather like how it turned out. I would have preferred the illusion of better depth of field but had to prop the calendar up with the Tardis - let's pretend it's a 60s-style studio backdrop, eh? At least it's more effective than the ones they used for The Web Planet!

After staring at the Star Naming Kit on the kitchen table for over a year I finally got around to naming the star.

Next month it will be six 6 godsdamn years 6 COUNT 'EM! since I started playing Consecutive Number Plate Spotting damn you Richard Herrings for making me this way!

I'm pleased to announce that I'm finally in the 900s - currently seeking 910 - but going on past experience it could still be months before I can stop looking at number plates.

Yes, I know I could stop looking now...

Six years! That's an average of fewer than a number a day!

And it's utterly pointless.

So is this indicative of an obsessive/compulsive disorder?

Or just of stupidity?

That's right. I went to the zoo today.

I should have put them all in one post, but Flickr's "Blog this" button is just too easy...

Truro vista, originally uploaded by Glamhag.

Sweetly, Truro's town planners have, with unaccustomed consideration, seen fit to leave a gap in the housing on top of the hill so you can sit on a bench and enjoy the view.

The Sims 3 is out. As I found out when I walked past Game.

That's another few months of my life down the drain then.

Let's see now.

I had an official extended period of depression just after the auto-destruction of my last relationship.

Two years ago I was off work for two and a half months because of the pressure of my job, following which I was redeployed. I now recognise this as a nervous breakdown.

Now, also because of the pressures of my job, with a crisis proving I am not doing it properly, I once again court a nervous breakdown.
